Our Story
ASC Salon is a boutique Parnell hair salon in Auckland, founded in 2016 by husband and wife team Stephen & Andrea Cockle. With decades of experience between them, their vision was simple - to create a salon where exceptional hairdressing, thoughtful service, and genuine relationships with clients come together.

Both Stephen & Andrea began their careers in Auckland before spending several years working London’s fast-paced salon industry. The experience shaped their approach to hairdressing, combining technical precision with creativity and a strong focus on client care. When they returned to Aotearoa, New Zealand, they brought that experience home to establish ASC Salon in the heart of Parnell.

Today, ASC is known as a trusted Auckland hair salon specialising in precision cutting, modern colour, and personalised consultations. Every appointment begins with a thoughtful consultation so our stylists can understand your hair, lifestyle, and long term goals, ensuring the results are both beautiful and wearable.

The salon itself was designed to create a calm and welcoming experience. Our styling floor sits downstairs, while our relaxed upstairs colour lounge offers a comfortable space for longer services. This allows clients to slow down and enjoy their time in the salon.

Education is central to our culture. Our team of experienced Auckland hairdressers and colour specialists are continually refining their skills through ongoing training and industry education. This commitment ensures every client receives expert care, modern techniques, and results tailored specifically to them.

Sustainability is also an important part of how we operate. We work with carefully selected products that are cruelty-free and formulated with consideration for both people and the environment.

Above all, ASC Salon is about people. Over the years we have built a loyal community of clients who value the relaxed, professional environment we’ve created and trust our team to look after their hair.

We are incredibly proud of what ASC has grown into and grateful to everyone who continues to be part of our journey.

  • Co-Founder / Creative Director

    With a career spanning over 3 decades, Stephen stands as a paragon of excellence in the hairdressing industry. Having worked both in Aotearoa NZ and London, Stephen decided to channel his passion and knowledge into a more personal venture. Ten years ago, he, alongside his wife Andrea, laid the foundation of their own salon. ASC is not just a testament to their love for hairdressing but also a reflection of their commitment to excellence and innovation.

    Stephen is a firm believer in the power of education, constantly seeking to expand his own knowledge and skills. His commitment to excellence extends beyond his personal development; he is equally dedicated to the growth and education of his team.

  • With over 15 years of experience in the hairdressing industry, Rebekah is a seasoned professional who connects effortlessly with her guests, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for everyone she meets. Known as a colour expert, Rebekahs skills shine in the precision and creativity she brings to every colour transformation.

    Her exceptional talent extends to all aspects of hairdressing, making her a versatile and dependable stylist for any hair needs. Rebekahs passion for hair drives her continuous learning and education, ensuring she stays at the forefront of the latest techniques. Rebekahs dedication, expertise, and warm personality ensure that every client leaves the salon feeling confident and happy with their hair.

  • Originally from Guangzhou, China, Yama moved to NZ to attend a prestigious hairdressing academy, where she graduated with top marks. Her exceptional talent and dedication were evident from the start, leading her to join ASC Salon as an apprentice and colourist. Under the expert mentorship of Steve, Yama honed her skills and grew into a highly proficient Stylist.

    Yama is a multi-faceted and talented professional, known for her strong precision in cutting and colouring. Her meticulous approach ensures that every detail is perfect, reflecting her commitment to excellence in every style she creates.

    With a passion for detail and a relentless pursuit of perfection, Yamas ability to deliver precise, beautiful results consistently makes her a favourite among guests seeking the highest quality hairdressing skill.

  • Phoebe is a dedicated colourist apprentice at ASC Salon, known for her meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful care with clients. She approaches her work with precision and patience, ensuring each colour service is carried out with intention and care.

    Phoebe is especially valued for the calm, considered experience she creates in the chair, taking pride in delivering beautiful, consistent results while continuing to build her technical skills.

  • Marianne brings over 25 years of exceptional hairdressing experience to our team. Having previously worked alongside Steve and Andrea two decades ago, Mez has a deep-rooted connection with ASC Salon and its philosophy of excellence.

    Highly skilled in all aspects of hairdressing, Mez has honed her craft through years of dedication and continuous learning. Her expertise spans cutting, colouring, and styling, making her a versatile and reliable choice for all your hair needs. Mez is particularly renowned for her hairup work and her ability to create stunning, intricate styles for any occasion.

  • Kane is a long-term ASC Stylist and one of the original members of our team. With a work history alongside Steve and Andrea prior to the establishment of ASC, Kane brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our salon's ethos.

    Kane is known for his engaging personality and his "gift of the gab". His entertaining and enlightening nature is a hit with guests, making every visit a wonderful experience. His happy-go-lucky attitude creates a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere in the salon.

    Renowned for his precision cutting and expertise with a pair of clippers, Kane is the go-to stylist for sharp, precise styles. Additionally, his talent for bright and bold colouring has earned him a reputation for creating vibrant, eye catching looks that our guests love.

  • Will is a fully qualified stylist at ASC Salon, known for his calm approach, strong technical skills, and genuine care for his clients. He takes the time to listen, creating personalised results that feel both wearable and considered.

    Trained within ASC Salon, Will values precision, creativity, and ongoing learning. Clients appreciate his professionalism, attention to detail, and their relaxed experience he provides in the chair.


  • Bodi is a colourist at ASC Salon who is almost about to become our newest Stylist to the floor here at ASC Salon. He is fully qualified with a strong work ethic and a super positive, energetic presence. His care and client service is exceptional as is his banter and ability to build long and lasting relationships with people.

    Bodi thrives in a fast-paced salon environment and is focused on strong client connections.


  • Bella is a colourist apprentice who brings enthusiasm, curiosity, and a growing confidence to her role. Bella is our newest team member here at ASC Salon.

    Bella enjoys being a part of a supportive team environment and is committed to building strong foundations as she continues her training journey within the salon.
